It wasn't that long ago San Francisco's Castro District was giving a retro 70's makeover for Gus Van Sants upcoming film about our first openly gay District Supervisor, Harvey Milk.
For those who are not familiar with him,
Harvey Milk was "the first openly gay man elected to any substantial political office in the history of the plane" according to Time Magazine. Harvey was known locally as "the mayor of Castro Street" and lead a crusade for gay rights from his small camera shop. Harvey was only in office for a short time before he was assassinated along with Mayor George Moscone in City Hall.
"This is not my victory -- it's yours. If a gay man can win, it proves that there is hope for all minorities who are willing to fight."
