This morning Georgia Lynn asked how my eyes are doing after that day my vision suddenly went blurry. It was only her concern which made me realize I hadn't put eye drops in before I left home this morning.
The ophthalmologist said it's probably just a combination of dry eyes and strain from too much time in front of the computer, but his bedside manner was terrible as he tried to shoo me out of the office without answering my questions because he didn't want to miss his flight. Our healthcare system at it's best! He gave me eye drop samples and told me to reduce the time I spend in front of computer screens and don't sit to close to the television.
Over the following couple days I could tell my vision was getting better, even from the morning to the afternoon. I've been trying to reduce computer use outside work and that's been pretty easy over the last week because of all the events around SF Gay Pride weekend.
Everything seems back to normal since yesterday was the first time I went an entire day without thinking about it. Thank you Georgia Lynn for checking up on my.
What other names did your parents consider for you?
My dad's pick was Jesse. Already having his German last name and the rest of the family being German, it was my mom who wanted to give me an Irish first name for his Irish mother. I know that meant a lot to my grandmother, though I'm too young to have anything but the vaguest memories of her.
They nicknamed me "Jamie" not knowing television's "Bionic Woman" Jaime Sommers would make that a very popular girls name. There were three or four in my preschool.
And before anyone says it, no, not "like the whiskey" which is spelled Jameson's Irish Whiskey.
My right eye started to go blurry yesterday afternoon. When I woke up and it wasn't any better this morning I googled it and results all said if I was experienced blurred vision to either call 911 or go to the emergency room.
Having a hospital two blocks from home is convenient at times like this and after about an hour of tests the doctor was able to rule out any major we-need-to-operate-on-you-today-or-you'll-go-blind problems and gave me the number of an ophthalmologist hoping they'd be able to see me today. The nurse who brought me the instructions asked if I worked on a computer, when answered I was a designer she pulled her pen back out and underlined the part which said I shouldn't read, use a computer or watch television. That means no Wii either unfortunately.
The soonest appointment I could get is monday afternoon, so I might not post again until I find out what's wrong and maybe wearing glasses. Glasses would be nice in a way because I find glasses on a guy cute most the time.
I haven't posted anything here in a while despite having made dozens, if not hundreds, of posts this week. They've all been on our test servers and had little more than "this is a test" in them. It was all for the new version of Vox we released yesterday.
I hope everyone enjoys it, and please send us your feedback.
Today I took the trolley to get to Team Vox World Headquarters (AKA Six Apart's office), because I'm sick and wouldn't have gotten a seat on Metro. Riding above ground gave me a chance to see the work crew putting up rainbow flags along Market Street.
June is Gay Pride month and here San Francisco the we have our big celebration on the final weekend, but events are held all month starting with the Rainbow flags which line Market Street from the Ferry Building to the Castro.
