Yesterday I did one last 50 mile training ride before AIDS/LifeCycle 7. The big 545 mile, 7 day ride from SF to LA to fight HIV/AIDS starts sunday and I’ve already started packing. My fundraising dropped off during the last month, when I was injured and worried my foot would keep me from riding. The money raised on AIDS/LifeCycle goes to fund the SF AIDS Foundations prevention and policy work and direct services for those living with HIV/AIDS. Please help me in the fight against AIDS with a donation of support. If I can reach $5,000, I get a nifty new cycling jersey to prove it. The jersey is an incentive I’ve achieved twice before and it's made them two of most treasured possessions. I’m hoping I won’t fail at getting one this year too.
So far I’ve raised $3,900 in the fight against AIDS and have less than a week to raise another $1,000 to reach my fundraising goal.
I might be crazy to do this, I might just be crazy period, but next year I am riding my bike 545 miles, over 7 days, from San Francisco to Los Angeles to stop HIV/AIDS. I am riding in the AIDS/LifeCycle, third time, and I need your help.
About four years ago, a close friend mine became HIV+ and when he told me I flashed back to all the images I'd seen growing up on television. I knew HIV treatment had come a long way in 20 years, but at that moment I feared the worst and he could have just said "I'm dying" and it wouldn't have made much difference.
Thankfully treatment has come a long way, he's healthy, and can afford healthcare. A lot of those living with HIV/AIDS are not nearly as lucky, so when a friend tried to sign me up for this, I said yes. In two previous rides, I've raised over $12,000 through your donations of support that has funded the SF AIDS Foundation's life saving work.
While you're in the spirit of holiday giving, consider a small donation of support to fight AIDS.
